The Providers and Friends - Perfect Day
The Providers & Friends are a Knoxville, TN-based studio duo consisting of Les "Doc" Cunningham and Audie Smith. Doc is a retired eye surgeon and Audie is a retired anesthesiologist. They are both originally from Mississippi and have been playing and writing original music together since 1993. They have collaborated over the years with various other local and national musicians and have released two LP's: 1998's "Lifeline" under the band name Where's Romeo, and 2019's "Moments of Awesome", released as The Providers. Their forthcoming four song EP "Perfect Day" features the title track written by the duo plus Doc's son Colin Brittain, a Los Angeles based producer and songwriter who is currently a member of the iconic rock band Linkin Park. It also features a re-release of the country song from The Providers' last LP, "I Saw You On The Radio" as well as two cover tunes, Linda Ronstadt's "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" and Rodney Crowell's "Til I Can Gain Control Again" featuring Nashville based singer-songwriter and former Carnival Music and Warner Chapel writer Logan Brill. The EP was recorded at Lakeside Studios in Knoxville by Dove Award winning producer Travis Wyrick (Pillar, POD, Dolly Parton, Disciple) and features friends and family as well as renowned Nashville based steel player, Travis Toy (Luke Bryan) and cellist, Nat Smith (Kacey Musgraves, Billy Strings, Natalie McMaster, David Grisman). Doc and Audie continue to write and record and look forward to future projects and releases.
