Kevin Palmer - Dead Man Walking (ft Leland Chapman)
Kevin Palmer was born into a rich family heritage of country musicians in Bernie, Missouri. Many would say Three Chords and The Truth was a family tradition. He was exposed to music from birth due to his father, other family members, and the local talent that performed at The Bootheel Jamboree, which was owned by his grandpa's brother. Kevin listened to tales of such history as Ma Palmer helping raise her brother, country music legend and pioneer Onie Wheeler. Kevin has recorded nine songs in his home state of Missouri and most recently 14 songs in Nashville, Tennessee. He has played music in smoke filled bars all over the United States and even some of the more famous venues in Tennessee, with some of the big names in the music business. The Backstory.… Tragedy struck early as Kevin's father's life was cut short due to an automobile accident leaving Keavin to call that “the day that music died for him”. Music became a painful reminder of the memories he tried to shy away from until his son was born. Kevin's first son was born with bilateral anophthalmia, hydrocephalus, total blindness, and autism. A blind child requires much creativity to stimulate and even do things that others may take for granted. Noticing his son trying to wiggle to the sounds of a toy keyboard, Kevin began to use that to teach his son. When he realized the impact music had on his son's ability to learn they used this as a learning tool teaching his son to shuffle down the walls with a crawl to reach the source of the sound until his legs were strong enough and balance was good enough to walk, then eventually dance. Soon his younger brother Brandon was born and brought laughter and balance to the mix like the missing puzzle piece. Brandon shares the gift of music naturally, and innately acquired, gifted from birth, often the one Kevin looks to for advice and help when writing new songs. He is currently a full-time college student at Semo and composer himself. Kevin’s music soothes his oldest son’s autism and soul with the throwback style, sharp like a razor, steady like a train. Music is this family's favorite pastime and bond they share together. Kevin claims his son Kent brought the music, which had died, back to life and Brandon balanced it.
