Big Bootsie "Chasing Money"
North Carolina has always been a fertile ground for the southern hip hop movement. With it’s geographical relationship to the rest of the area it is deeply embedded in the south but also sprinkles in influences from it’s northern cousins. One group in particular that has been lighting up the scene down there is the Blu Roc Records/GMB Records collaboration. With their newest release for “Chasing Money,” they bring together some of the hottest, most promising talents that the Tar Heel State has to offer.
First is Big Bootsie, himself the CEO of Money League Records. He takes the lead in the song, but never far from his side is the Money League Boys, who bring a more reckless, youthful exuberance to the table. Between that energy and laser precision, the song is guaranteed to be top shelf. “Chasing Money” is the perfect encapsulation of this collective’s lifestyle, and the music video is the ideal visual compliment.
“Chasing Money” does not mess around when it comes to showing the lifestyle of the hustle. They play hard and they work even harder. As this crew drops their rhymes and newly minted “Chasing Money” dance move from a variety of locations like onstage, on the high seas, or on the grounds of a palatial estate, another more sinister narrative is taking shape. A sense of unease hangs uneasy in the air as a home invasion unfolds by a pair of masked men. Their reasons are unclear, but what is clear is that there is a dark side to chasing the brass ring When you reach the mountaintop it’s a given that there will be others looking to knock you down from the throne. Sometimes it’s best to be looking over your shoulder every once in awhile.
